Another update - spoke to Nedbank about a merchant account today. They will charge me 3.5% with a minimum monthly fee of R500. Then I would also have to pay fees to mygate, paygate or similar...

Update:

Monsterpay is making it pretty difficult to withdraw funds from my account.

I did their 'full verification' - now that i want to withdraw money they are asking for 'proof of delivery'.

I have to send a waybill for each order.

Hi Dylan,
you seem to be having a lot of problems with all the avenues you have tried. I suppose it is a reflection on the amount of fraud that does take place worldwide.
Proof of delivery from your clients also opens up a can of worms in having to get the documentation back from them.
Have you tried discussing it with them telephonically?
Maybe it is just the first few transactions that you will need to have it until they have built up a record of you as a supplieer/user of their system?

I think you need to have some face to face conversation.

Regards

Tim

Hi Tim. The problems haven't been TOO bad.

I'm just keeping this thread updated as I go along - it should help our members when they decide what credit card gateway to use.

Hi Dylan,
Great that you keep everyone updated. Often with small business the collection of the money is the reason for failure so a smooth collection method makes for better small businesses.

Lost another R8500 sale because of Monsterpay's system.

Their fraud engine was triggered and my customer had to wait days to complete their verification process.

They then decided to postpone their purchase.

Considering paying the extra 2% and returning to Payfast...

Dylan,
Sorry to hear that. Sales is hard enough without the frustrations of making it difficult to accept payment.
Could you not offer a choice of payment methods?
If you had Monsterpay and it costs you less then list that as the first payment option and then pt payfast as the second option?

Just a thought

Tim

I've considered it, but seems a little silly having two CC gateways.

I am listing EFT as the first (pre-selected) option and giving a 1% discount to encourage users to choose the EFT option.

I've just signed up with Netcash, why does everybody seem to think that Payfast is better?

Netcash has a monthly fee of around R165..??
And they charge 5% (or so..)
and dont they hold onto your money for 10 days? or is that just for debit orders?

Payfast and Monsterpay don't charge a monthly fee.
