Any thoughts on what the Best Credit Card Gateways in South Africa are?

What credit card gateways have the lowest commission rates and lowest monthly fees?

They need to work with popular content management system like Joomla and Virtuemart.

Ok thanks. What are their rates like?

I've used Netcash a number of times, but there are some terms etc that I don't like.

not bad, but that 4.9% on credit cards still seems high.

is anyone aware of any credit card gateways with a significantly lower percentage commission on credit card transactions?

I am using Payfast myself but thinking of moving to Monsterpay as their credit card fees are lower 2.9% + R2. If you do not have a merchant account I recommend Payfast and Monsterpay

I have been using monsterpay for 2 years now on my Joomla Virtuemart site with no hassles. They are extremely helpful and have low service fees.

I am now busy with a new Wordpress site and I can't use them without purchasing a plugin - so I'm stuck with the same problem.

Anybody using Paypal?

Have you had any problems withdrawing fund via Monsterpay? I've read a few posts on other forums where users said they struggled to withdraw.

How long does it take you from the time you make a sale and the client pays to withdraw funds?

Is the cost of a Wordpress plugin not justified? B)

I only had a problem once withdrawing funds after an exhibition, because I needed to submit copies of the invoices with card imprints. It is very clear in their contract though that you need that, and I had to provide it. Otherwise, I have only experienced very helpful assistance.

They do transfers twice a week, I think on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so it depends on which day of the week you request the transfers. But it only takes a day (if that) for them to authorise the withdrawal.

The plugin for the new website is R1000 and I just don't want to spend that :(

hmm.. 1k for a gateway plugin is quite steep.

I paid around R200 for a Netcash / Virtuemart plugin.

Ok, so with Monsterpay you could look at around 5 days turn around time - from sale until you get your money.

That cause a bit of a problem for people who make a sale, then pay their suppliers. They would either have to fork out the cash themselves or wait for the funds from the sale to clear. Alternatively the delivery time would be longer, which means unhappy clients.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with Monsterpay.
