Long story short; I lost my construction business during the recession and have no money to start anew as i am already nearing 60. White skin at that age is truly lost!
I am thinking of doing an affiliate web page (others to follow) to, for instance, direct gamblers to casino web sites to join up, and then of course the casino systems available in the same way.
Next would be forex and so on. Everything will for starters revolve around making money.
HOW DO GET PEOPLE TO ACTUALLY SEE YOUR SITE AMONGST THE BILLIONS OUT THERE?
Hosting and design, and costs involved?

Is this a viable proposition? Anyone with some experience OR advice here?

Is this a viable proposition? To be honest, I'd say no - unless you know about internet marketing and so on.

It takes considerable effort to drive traffic to a website and you are going to need alot of traffic in order to make decent money off affiliate campaigns, adsense etc.

The initial cost for a decent website would be substanstial.

Also - if you are not clued up about internet marketing and basic web design, you would be putting the success of this venture totally in the hands of the web designer. That would work if you have a big budget, but you have to understand that to make a real success of this type of thing, you would have to nurture it closely for around 6 months.

It may be best to stick to what you know in this case - even if it means you have to start our REALLY small.

Starting a online business is not easy at all and as you said you are not very clued up on this as well

I am a web developer and know out of experience that quality websites does not get build in a day rather in months or years

It nothing to design a website but to rank well on search engines is something else this needs to be done correctly from the start

I did Search engine optimization on a site now it took me 6months though but I got it to nr 1 on google for the required keywords

I would recomend starting something that is in a niche market with open possibilities

Starting a hosting company in SA is daft look for the gaps for example eco products etc
