Hi Mickey, what marketing avenues have you tried? Maybe you can target your local market first by distributing flyers or displaying small posters in announcement boards. You can also tap social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to spread the word about your business.:)

Hi, first: do your research about your product/service.
Second: research your competitors, they offers, pricing, weakness, strength and may more.
Third:Register your business with relevant authority.
fourth: do your market research-who to market to, how to market to, when to market to, how much to market to, and why to market to.

Also, make sure your business have website. Webss.co.za offers free website and free hosting for small business in south africa. website is a must have this days in the business world.
