Bad Debts on Cash Flow 12 years 6 months ago #1955

 Hoping someone can help... there is a terrible culture of non-payment in SA especially when a service or product have been provided at someones premises. Once delivered/installed the product cannot be removed without a legal process & this is when certain customers start haggling about price, service or quality & frequently payment is withheld or the customer simply 'admits' that they don't have money or claim its too expensive despite the quote they accepted. Although this is criminal there is little a small company can do in SA since litigation is too expensive & drawn out & the small claims court has a limit of R12k. All that's needed is 2-3 customers withholding payment for cashflow to be affected. Apparently its not even legal to charge interest on overdue moneys although the banks seem to do this every day. Bad Debts are a killer... any advice would be most welcome!
