Yesterday, I registered a private business - or at least sent off an online application, power of attorney etc to register a business. But, I'm not convinced that I qualify as a director and shareholder in a small business!
Last year I organised two hikes for small groups of friends (and a few strangers)in Spain. Other people wanted to do them this year so I kept the website going but because I can't go this year I've asked others to lead the groups. I have been advised that if I accept payment from people for a holiday I should register as a business.
Am I really a business? Two trips a year is a business? I don't actually make much money out of the trips. Everybody has their own insurance, books and pays for their own flights. I book all the accommodation and transport for the trip but I'm not a travel agent. When it is all official I'll have to register with SARS. Will I need an auditor? Have an AGM? Ay-yay-yay - having a few sleepless nights!
