Can someone please shed some light on the manipulation of the Rand?

My business is essentialy an export business, and we have been negatively affected by the strengthening of the Rand, and the way I see it, a number of other industries have also been negatively affected by the Rand strengthening. I heard yesterday that the wine industry in this county is down by 29% on exports. I do not have any stats on tourism, but I wonder if tourism has also been negatively affected. Surely when the Rand strengthens this would inflate the labour costs on the mines, and this would in turn negatively affect the mining industry. And if our export industries are negatively affected, then does this not begin to affect imports?

My main question is, when our interest rates are attractive to the cash inflows into the country, how do we afford to pay this interest, if many of our industries are under pressure. Is there somebody who could put this into perspective for me?
