Pravan Gordham first budget was a difficult one and although he had not much to play with he did give some relief for the man in the street. Here is the things he did not say but that will have an effect on everybody:

PERSONAL INCOME TAX
People younger then 65 years and earning a total ammount of
R80 000 will pay tax at an average rate of 5.2% on earnings and save R504
R250000 will pay tax at an average rate of 17.6% on earnings and save R1 614
R750000 will pay tax at an average rate of 30.6% on earnings and save R3 354

Below age of 65 R57 000
Age 65 an older R88 528
Rebates
Primary R10 260
Additional R5 675

SIN TAX
packet of 20 cigaretts cost R1.24 more
750 bottle of wine 12c more
340 ml beer 6.5c more
750 bottle of spirits R2.22 more

TAX on FUEL
from April 7, 2010 25.5c a litre

Carbon tax on new motor vechiles
SITE is to be abolished from 1 March 2011

FRINGE BENEFITS
company car fringe benefit value is to be increased
deferred compenstation and employer-provided group life insurance will be taxed as fringe benenfits
