Employees from Accsys, a national supplier of payroll, HR, Time & Attendance and Access Control solutions, recently marked the national celebration of Nelson Mandela Day by volunteering their time to the benefit of Hearts of Hope, a local orphanage.

Hearts of Hope (www.heartsofhope.org.za) is a Section 21 registered company established to provide a platform of family based care for vulnerable children who are affected and/or infected by HIV/Aids.

Accsys has a proud tradition of meaningful contribution to this organisation, as part of its ongoing corporate social responsibility program.

The company’s management viewed the national tribute to Madiba, the founder and inspiration behind the globally recognised 46664 HIV/Aids awareness Campaign, as a unique and special opportunity for employees to make a meaningful contribution to people in need.

Accsys employees visited the orphanage on 18 July as part of a ‘Give 67 minutes campaign’, initiated by the company to acknowledge the 67 years of difference made by Nelson Mandela.

Employees used the time to play with children, share a tea party with staff and children at the institution and also help with some house work and gardening.

“We believe that corporate South Africa has a responsibility to empower communities and individuals, and make a lasting investment in future generations of this country. HIV/Aids awareness is absolutely essential and will impact the socio-economic development of the country.,” says Teryl Schroenn, CEO at Accsys.

She adds   “We would like to bring Hearts of Hope to the attention of people and businesses in the community who have time or money to give to the cause.   The organizers would like to be able to add more infrastructure to the current orphanage so that they can offer more children the opportunity to have a safe and loving home.”
