I am planning to start my own business at the end of Feb 2011. It was suggested that I don't purchase any equipment until the new tax year or while still employed, as it will be difficult to prove to SARS that they are actually claimable expenses.
Dose anyone have any suggestions or advice, because naturally there are some decent specials at the moment that I'd like to take advantage of. I'd also like to be set up and ready to go on the 1st March and not have to only start then, and lose a part of the month to earn.
Thanx

Hi Thomas

I think you're raising a good point here. Unfortunately we need someone who's more clued on on Tax than me to answer this! Accountants - where are you?

I think with the new year upon us and peoples ambitions at a high many soon to be small biz owners will be eager to get started... Hopefully we'll have some clarication on the matter soon!

Best of luck with your ventures.
